Q: How to work with DNS?
A: Please Note!!! "DNS extension" is turned on only on client's request.
Domain Names Service is resposible for transformation of the server name in its IP address.
More details about it you may read here.
DNS Management consists of the list of extensions and their description consists of the list of records within every extension. Zone name coincides with the registered domain extension in general.
While adding sites in "Hosting" - "Sites" notes necessary for the site work are generated automatically in the extension:
mydomain.com A 964.267.99.99
www.mydomain.com A 964.267.99.99
mydomain.com MX mail2.hqhost.net
The last record describes work of the email processing server.
The record of the type NS describes name servers. For example, for creating affiliated name servers for a domain mydomain.com there must be fields
ns0.mydomain.com A 964.267.37.72
ns1.mydomain.com A 964.267.41.94
mydomain.com NS ns0.mydomain.com
mydomain.com NS ns1.mydomain.com
besides affiliated name servers must be written at the domain registrar and name servers allocated at the specified addresses must display the right records for the extension.
If affiliated name servers are created for a domain allocated on our hosting servers IP addresses must be specified
ns0.hqhost.net and ns1.hqhost.net.
Q: How can I view my site before changing DNS?
A: It can be done in different ways:
- Use the service of our anonymous proxy server. Using it queries to the sites allocated on our hosting will be sent to our servers.
- Write the right IP address of the site and its name on the local computer in the file hosts adding a line like this
964.267.99.99 mydomain.com
i.e. IP address of the domain and then its name. The place of the file hosts
depends on the operating system:
- Windows version NT (NT4, 2000, XP) - c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
- Windows version 9x (95, 98, ME) - c:\windows\hosts
- Linux, unix - /etc/hosts
- Mac OS X 10.2 and above - /private/etc/hosts
- Use our name servers: ns0.hqhost.net и
ns1.hqhost.net. Their name servers have be written in DNS Setup on the local computer.
Q: How to park domains and subdomains?
A: If you want to park a domain to the hosting you have to write the Name Servers of our hosting instead of your former ones: ns0.hqhost.net, ns1.hqhost.net
For domains registered for hosting clients it can be done in "Domain Names".
For allocating a site corresponding to the domain on the hosting you have to add it to "Hosting" - "Sites". Third level domains and "subdomains" are added in the similar way. After adding the site the necessary changes take place in the zone of the main domain name.
